Mutharika gets global vice presidency

Malawi President His Excellency Ngwazi Dr Bingu wa Mutharika has been elected one of the Vice Presidents of the 118 world powerful Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

Malawi’s Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Augustine Mtendere disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Malawi Digest.

Mtendere said that Malawi is greatly honoured to have its leader Ngwazi Dr Bingu wa Mutharika elected into such a powerful position in an influential a global grouping like NAM.

“This is one of the best news to come out of the recent NAM summit that His Excellency the State President attended, as Malawians, we feel greatly honoured” said Mtendere.

According to Mtendere, Ngwazi Dr Bingu wa Mutharika is one of the 20 vice presidents in the bureau for NAM.

According to a communique from NAM, eight of the 20 vice presidents are from Africa.

President Ngwazi Dr Bingu wa Mutharika attended the 15th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in the Egyptian sea resort of Shalma El Sheikh. He returned home from the meeting last Thursday-Malawi Digest.
