His Excellency the State President Ngwazi Dr Bingu wa Mutharika said that Malawians have started harvesting fruits for good choice of a vote.
Ngwazi Dr Mutharika was speaking on Thursday upon landing from a Non-Aligned Movement summit in Egypt.
In his speech to thousands upon thousands of people that came to welcome him at Chileka International Airport in Malawi’s commercial capital, Blantyre, Ngwazi Dr Mutharika said that he was humbled by the overwhelming vote that the people of this country gave him and his party in the recent Presidential and Parliamentary polls.
“I must commend all Malawians for voting me for a second term of office with such an overwhelming vote,” he said.
The State President said that even outside Malawi, people are admiring the way how the people of this country voted.
“As your President, I walk tall and proud because of you voted so peacefully in the polls,” he said.
The State President also attacked the opposition UDF online propaganda tool Nyasatimes for being prophets of doom.
“Unlike what Nyasatimes was spreading before the elections that there was going to be violence and chaos during and after the elections, that did not happen at all because Malawians love peace,” he said.
Ngwazi Dr Bingu wa Mutharika said following his landslide victory and that of the ruling DPP, there is smooth running of government business in the National Assembly.
“Recent developments in the National Assembly where the budget and other important bills have been passed successfully are as a result of a good vote that you Malawians made on May 19th,” he said.
Ngwazi Mutharika said that his government will do all it can to make sure that Malawi is developed to greater heights in the next 5 years.
He gave examples of development works that his government is already full-filling.
“The new Parliament building has taken shape, the Karonga-Chitipa road construction is underway and my government will very soon start building a 5-star hotel in Lilongwe,” he said.
He said these are just but a few of the works that his government will undertake in the next 5 years.
“Time for politicking is over, from here onwards it’s all development,” he said.
According to the State President, the 5-Star hotel project has already drawn interest from the Japanese who have pledged to install a state of the art public address system in the hotel’s conference hall once completed–Malawi Digest.

ReplyDeleteNyasa Times is at it again today heavily insulting Lhomwes, using lies and half truths, can anyone stop this? Its sickening now. They just cant go about spreading hatred and vitriol without looking at the pain the Lhomwes would feel with those insults. Is anyone out there listening. The tribal hatred being propagated on Nyasa is dangerous to our country.
