Dear Editor,
I have noted with sadness that most Malawians are missing a point on legal marriage age for girls.
Parliament is suggesting that the legal marriage age for girls be raised from 15 to 16.
The bill does not stop there but it puts a constraint to marriages.
Such marriages, according to the bill, can only place with the consent of parents.
This, in my opinion, takes care of the health and education needs of girls.
In essence, Parliament is raising not lowering the marriage age.
So what is wrong with?
As at now, the legal marriage age is at 15.
Surprisingly, nobody is raising hell.

Maybe raise it alittle high than 16.Say 18 or 20. Not as low as 16.
