DETERMINATION OF NOMINATION PAPERS FOR PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES
The Malawi Electoral Commission is informing the public that it has determined and accepted nomination papers from thefollowing Presidential Candidates:
1. Ms Loveness Gondwe of the New Rainbow Coalition.
2. Mr. James Nyondo, Independent Candidate.
3. Mr. John Tembo of The Malawi Congress Party.4. Mr. Stanley Masauli of the Republican Party.
5. Mr. Dindi Gowa Nyasulu of the Alliance For Democracy.
6. Mr. Kamuzu Chibambo of PETRA.
7. Dr. Bingu Wa Mutharika of the Democratic Progressive Party.
The Commission has rejected nomination papers for Dr. Bakili Muluzi of the United Democratic Front.
Meanwhile, the Commission has accepted nomination papers for all Parliamentary candidates who presented their papers between 2nd and 6th February 2009 except for Yeremiah Chihana of New RainbowCoalition.
In the meantime, the Commission is scrutinizing the papers received on the17th and 18th March 2009.
