Dr Mutharika salutes the Malawi Flames

Malawi President Ngwazi Dr Bingu wa Mutharika says that he is impressed with the performance of the Malawi national football side, the Flames.

The Flames, recently qualified for the finals of the African Cup of Nations to be held in Angola.

The Flames are in Group A with the hosts Angola, Algeria and Mali.

The government of President Ngwazi Dr Bingu wa Mutharika has pledged to support the Flames all the way to Angola.

It is through this support that the Flames qualified for Angola 2010 under a local coach, Kinnah Phiri.

This is the first time in 25 years that the Flames will be taking part in the finals of the Nations Cup.

At a recent Sports function in the capital, Lilongwe, Ngwazi Dr Bingu wa Mutharika took time off to congratulate Coach Kinnah Phiri on his achievement. The State President also took time to offer the coach some fatherly advice to the Flames through the coach.
